About Us

CMC Foundation was established in 1988, but its roots go back more than thirty years. In 1968 a grass roots fundraising campaign was begun to move the former Thornton hospital from downtown and expand it on Fort Missoula land. Six months later the newly formed Community Hospital Board had raised $1.1 million. In 1972 the new Community Medical Center opened its doors.

The CMC Foundation started out with a modest $318,000 net worth and a not-so-modest mission: to support medical excellence and ensure continuous growth in medical programs and ongoing improvement in the facilities of the Community Medical Center. Within the Foundation's role and scope is the commitment to promoting healthcare education available to the citizens of Missoula and the Western Montana region.

This year the CMC Foundation celebrates seventeen years of awarding healthcare scholarships.

Our Executive Board has doubled from four to eight committees to carry out the work that has made us one of the most active healthcare philanthropies in Montana.

Our small family of 221 members has grown to over 3,500. We hope you will join us in 2007.

We are constantly striving to provide better service to our members, donors, Community Medical Center, and the people of Western Montana.
