DEPARTMENT: PATIENT CARE SERVICES
JOB TITLE: REGISTERED NURSE
I. JOB SUMMARY:
The RN advocates and utilizes the nursing process in the care of all age populations along the health continuum. The nursing process includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. The RN performs this process as part of the care team recognizing each person as important in the care of the patient/family. The RN facilitates this team approach by directing, supporting and teaching team members. The RN is unfailingly positive in job performance and promotes excellent care and service by all actions and words within the work place.
The RN is knowledgeable regarding the professional scope of practice, and nurse practice standards. The RN meets these standards legally and professionally.
The RN is flexible and makes care decisions based on the condition of the patient, reassessing and prioritizing according to individual need.

III. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Job Duties:
The RN:
1. Provides initial and ongoing assessments.
2. Develops and implements the plan of care based on data collected and age-specific patient needs.
3. Communicates clearly and regularly appropriate information to staff, patients and families, to physicians and supervisors. This information is essential for care of the patient.
4. Practices confidentiality within the facility and community according to Administrative Policy.
5. Demonstrates skills required for the patients in selected care situations.
6. Carries out responsibilities within the infection control, risk management, safety and disaster programs.
7. Organizes nursing care for a patient group.
8. Is "outcome driven" in delivery and evaluation of all care given.
9. Is able to speak and write in English.
10. Acts as a role model to other members of the health team.
11. Participates in meetings and educational offerings within the department and/or hospital.
12. Delegated tasks within the scope of practice.

V. QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Licensure: Current Montana Registered Nursing license.
Current Certified Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Other current certifications specific to unit requirements

Medium to heavy (See specific unit job description)
VII. OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION:
This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol Testing according to MT Law 30-2-205 --39-2-211.
