Neonatal Transport

Neonatal Transport

When an infant is in need of a neonatal transport, a team of specialized neonatal staff – two NICU nurses or a neonatologist and an NICU nurse – respond via ground ambulance or fixed-wing aircraft. The decision over which mode of transport is used is made between the referring and accepting transport physicians, with consideration given to acuity and distance. Every effort later is given to return the patient to the referring hospital and the primary care providers as soon as possible. The toll-free transport number rings into the NICU at community Medical Center, at any time of the day.
