Available to families are 11 different specialty clinics that provide assessments and care from a pediatric specialist or clinic team. The specialty clinics work with a child’s primary care physician to make a definitive diagnosis and or to enhance a child’s treatment plan.
Some clinics are sponsored by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services Children’s Special Health Services (CSHS) program and are free to families. All other clinics are fee-for-service.

Cleft/Craniofacial Clinic: An extensive team, which includes a plastic surgeon, orthodontist, dentist, pediatrician, ENT physician, audiologist, nutritionist, nurse, speech therapist, psychologist and geneticist, comes together to provide a comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic review for a child with cleft or craniofacial conditions. Cystic Fibrosis Clinic: This periodic clinic is available under the direction of a pediatric pulmonologist and offers the expertise of a clinic team to address the chronic and acute concerns of the child or adult patient with cystic fibrosis. The team is usually includes a pediatric pulmonologist, a respiratory therapist, a nutritionist, a social worker and a nurse. This is a fee-for-service clinic.
Endocrine Clinic: Working with Missoula’s adult endocrine specialists, a visiting pediatric endochrinologist travels to the clinic campus at least three times a year. The pediatric endochrinologist offers specialist evaluation, as well as treatment recommendations for a variety of known or suspected endocrine conditions, such as growth and puberty disorders, thyroid conditions, juvenile diabetes and many other endocrine conditions. Diabetic educators and nutrition consultants are also available for juvenile diabetic patients. This is a fee-for-service clinic. . Medical Genetics Clinic: The Medical Genetics Clinic provides a comprehensive genetic evaluation and recommendations to patients of any age with a suspected or known genetic disorder, to patients with concerns about prenatal exposure to drugs or alcohol, and to those who suspect they may be predisposed to cancer. Medical geneticists and genetic counselors from Shodair Hospital in Helena travel to Missoula to see patients in this clinic. This is a fee-for-service clinic. . Spina Bifida Clinic: This multidiscipline team follows children with neural tube defects of any type or degree. The team usually includes a neurosurgeon, a urologist, a pediatric orthopedist and a nurse. Genetics consultation and physical therapy and occupational therapy evaluations are available when indicated. This is a fee-for-service clinic.
Metabolic Clinic: This clinic may provide an initial diagnosis and offers periodic evaluations to manage the very specific nutrition, developmental and other concerns associated with metabolic disorders. Working with the family is a metabolic specialist, a pediatric neurologist and a geneticist, with additional support from Nutrition, Nursing and Social Services. Pulmonary Clinic: A pediatric pulmonologist holds monthly clinics to evaluate and monitor children with chronic pulmonary conditions, including asthma, respiratory infections, congenital respiratory conditions and other conditions. Spasticity/Tone Management Clinic: This clinic provides a unique approach to the medical management of spasticity by combining the expertise of a pediatric orthopedist and a physiatrist. The team then makes recommendations for care and treatment in a complementary, coordinated manner. Along with the physician assessments, evaluations can be arranged with a physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist or nutritionist. Rheumatology Clinic: This clinic provides a unique approach to the medical management of spasticity by combining the expertise of a pediatric orthopedist and a physiatrist. The team then makes recommendations for care and treatment in a complementary, coordinated manner. In addition to the physician assessments, evaluations with a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, a speech therapist or a nutritionist can be arranged when needed. This is a fee-for-service clinic.
NICU Follow-Up Clinic: Community Medical Center’s Follow-Up Clinic is for families that have had a baby in the NICU. The clinic provides evaluation and, if needed, referrals for early intervention for infants who were born early or were very ill at birth, helping them to “catch up” with other children. A clinic team assesses a child’s growth and development through a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach. The team is made up of nenatologists, physical and occupational therapists, and speech-language therapists. The free Follow-Up Clinic is held twice a month. Muscular Dystrophy Clinic: This clinic provides space and other clinical support to the Muscular Dystrophy Association so it can hold quarterly clinics for children and adults with muscular dystrophy. This clinic offers medical evaluations by a neurologist and a physiatrist. Physical and occupational therapies are available, when indicated.
