Families across Montana have felt the comfort and professional care of the pediatric Unit at Community Medical Center. The specialized unit is one of three pediatric units in the state and the only one in Western Montana. The ten-bed unit cares for children with medical and surgical needs, as well as acute and chronic diagnoses, and on an inpatient outpatient basis. The Unit sees patients ranging in age from infancy through adolescence. When rehabilitation services are needed, the unit collaborates with CMC’s Rehabilitation Institute to provide all-around care fro the child.
The Unit emphasizes family-centered care for not only its young patients, but their family members as well. Because the staff in the pediatric Unit understand children are not adults, they have created a comforting environment that’s sensitive to a family’s needs. The unit is colorful as well as warm. Staff are nurturing as well as highly trained. Parents are encouraged to stay with their Children; the unit offers sleeping arrangements for parents so they can be at a child’s side.
