Oncology Nurse Navigator

Providing Help Along the Way

Receiving a cancer diagnosis is an emotionally charged and confusing time. In addition to the support and information provided by your physicians and family, our oncology nurse navigators are here to guide you every step of the way—providing education, encouragement and personalized support.

About Oncology Nurse Navigation

Oncology nurse navigators are registered nurses who have advanced their knowledge and expertise by earning certification as Oncology Certified Nurses. They provide a holistic approach to care, supporting both the physical and emotional needs of each patient. Our navigators listen to the patient's needs and expectations, provide answers to questions, and guide patients through their cancer journey—helping to coordinate and streamline treatment.

One-on-One Support

A cancer diagnosis can feel overwhelming and uncertain. You’ll be connected with a nurse navigator who has specialized knowledge of your specific diagnosis and will guide you every step of the way—from diagnosis through survivorship.

Navigators bring comfort by being present, educating, advocating and helping the patient to understand how they need to move forward after diagnosis.

Navigators offer one-on-one information and support, including:

  • A referral, if needed, to support programs and resources in the broader community
  • Advocacy for you throughout every step of your care
  • Coordination of appointments with various physicians and therapists
  • Education on recommended treatment options, side effect management and prognosis
  • Emotional support and guidance
  • Facilitation of communication between patients and care teams
  • Help for patients and families to understand your cancer diagnosis and treatment goals

Our oncology nurse navigation program is confidential, and the program is offered free of charge.
