Pediatric Anesthesiology

If your child has an illness, injury, or disease that requires surgery or various procedures, a pediatric anesthesiologist has the experience and qualifications to assist in the treatment and to help ensure that your child undergoes that treatment safely. They are fully trained anesthesiologists who have completed at least 1 year of specialized training in anesthesia care of infants and children. The pediatric anesthesiologist is best qualified to evaluate these complex pediatric problems and plan a safe anesthetic for each child. Through special training and experience, pediatric anesthesiologists provide the safest care for infants and children undergoing anesthesia. Your pediatric surgeon will coordinate with our pediatric anesthesiologists.

Pediatric Sedation Program

We offer minimal, moderate and even deep sedation for children requiring procedures and testing that would be traumatic or painful without sedation. Lab draws, IV, Foley and NG tube placements are all made easier and more comfortable for children through brief and safe sedation with nitrous oxide. Moderate and deep sedation allows MRI scans, joint injections and other procedures to be done without intubation, avoiding potential negative effects of general anesthesia on the developing brain. Our Pediatric Sedation Program is a member institution in the Society for Pediatric Sedation, ensuring cutting-edge, quality care. Our pediatric sedation specialists will ensure a calm, safe and as stress free as possible experience.
