Pain can be frustrating, confusing and even scary, especially when it affects your daily life. What causes pain?
Pain is your body’s way of signaling that something may be wrong. It can come from:

- Injuries (like sprains, broken bones or pulled muscles)

- Surgery or other medical procedures

What’s the difference between acute and chronic pain?
- Acute pain happens suddenly and usually goes away as your body heals. It might last a few days or weeks.
- Chronic pain lasts more than three months and may continue even after the original cause is gone.

Do I need to live with pain, or can it be treated?
You don’t have to live in pain. There are many ways to reduce or manage pain, including:

Are opioids the only option for pain relief?
No. In fact, we focus on non-opioid and safer alternatives whenever possible. These may include:

If opioids are needed, we use them carefully and for the shortest amount of time needed. Your safety is our priority.
When should I see a pain management specialist?
You may benefit from seeing a pain specialist if:
- Pain is affecting your daily activities or mental health
- You’ve tried other treatments that haven’t worked
- Your pain lasts more than three months
- Your current medication isn’t working or causes side effects
- You want more options beyond medication

Will I need surgery?
