HB 245 was recently signed into law by Gov. Greg Gianforte after being passed in February by the Montana Legislature. This important legislation preserves Montana's Medicaid program and ensures continued access to vital healthcare for thousands of Montanans.

I want to thank each member of our local legislative delegation who supported the bipartisan effort to pass this important legislation. Its positive effects will impact everyone Community Medical Center serves.

Thank you to Sen. Denley Loge, Sen. Jacinda Morigeau, Sen. Ellie Boldman, Sen. Andrea Olsen, Sen. Willis Curdy, Sen. Shane Morigeau, Rep. Mark Thane, Rep. Curtis Cochran, Rep. Connie Keogh, Rep. Katie Sullivan, Rep. Marilyn Marler, Rep. Zooey Zephyr, Rep. Bob Carter, Rep. Melody Cunningham, Rep. Jonathan Karlen, Rep. Tom France, and Rep. SJ Howell.

Since it was expanded in 2015 to include coverage for low-income adults, Montana Medicaid has proven to be a cost-efficient, lifesaving program. HB 245 ensures close to 80,000 hardworking Montanans will continue to get the healthcare services they need.

Medicaid has a significant impact on Community Medical Center’s ability to maintain and expand services. Uncompensated care levels decreased by 30% for Montana hospitals overall in the past decade. Many have expanded services to address the state’s most pressing needs, like behavioral health.

As you can see, Montana Medicaid not only keeps people healthy, but it protects access to local healthcare and supports a stronger economy, too. Please consider joining me in thanking our local legislators for supporting HB 245.
