Daisy Award Winner: Ashley Miller

September 24, 2025

Congratulations to Ashley from Labor & Delivery on receiving the DAISY Award! Ashley was nominated by a patient for exemplifying the nursing values: Extraordinary Compassion, Courage and Integrity in every situation.

"I came into Community Medical Center for an induction, knowing my life would forever be different once I left. Our son, Isiah, had a rare genetic mutation, called Meckle Gruber Syndrome. Ashley was my nurse for 3 of the 4 days I was admitted. She walked us through the hard parts and discussed the options for funeral options, let us pick from premature infant clothing and everything else involved in such a hard time in our lives. She took the extra time to answer all my questions and help me walk through a part of my life that I do not wish on anyone. Her compassionate care towards me, my husband and family was outstanding. My husband has a strong Native American heritage. After our son passed, she helped us coordinate a place and time, outside the hospital, where we blessed our son. She helped us build molds of our little boys feet and hands. Foot prints and finger prints. She cried with me. The little things she did still stick with me 8 months later, and she will forever be recognized in our hearts. For that she deserves this DAISY Award. Her caring and compassionate ways on top of her professionalism is something I will forever carry with me."
