Daisy Award Winner: Brooke Conrady
May 08, 2026
We are so proud to share that Brooke Conrady, ICU Nurse, is a recipient of the DAISY Award — one of nursing's most treasured honors, given to nurses who deliver extraordinary compassionate care. If you've ever had the privilege of watching Brooke work, this news probably comes as no surprise.
Ask anyone on the unit what Brooke's nursing superpower is, and the answer comes quickly: human connection. Whether she's caring for someone who arrived scared and alone, or sitting with a patient through the most difficult moments of their life, Brooke has a rare ability to make people feel genuinely seen — and she does it with a warmth that feels completely natural.
One particular shift captures everything that makes Brooke so special. The team was caring for an elderly ICU patient who had come to terms with the end of her life. Over the course of a single hour, colleagues passing by her room witnessed Brooke kneeling on the floor to meet the patient's eyes — because Rose's condition meant she couldn't look up — holding her as she cried, weeping right alongside her, and gently reminding her that she was not a burden to anyone. It was the kind of care that stops you in your tracks.
When Brooke finally returned to the nurse's station, her first thought wasn't about charting or catching her breath. She turned to fellow nurse Taylor and said those nine words. Together, they organized an impromptu spa day — spending over an hour bringing a little joy and dignity into a clinical space — until the patient, finally at peace, drifted into a long, restful sleep.
The way Brooke shows up every single day — with intention, deep empathy, and a refusal to let a patient feel alone in their darkest hour — is exactly what the DAISY Award was created to celebrate. Please join us in congratulating Brooke on this deeply well-deserved recognition.
