Radiation Oncology Team Honored with the BEE Award

May 27, 2026

We are proud to recognize two extraordinary members of our radiation therapy team — Taylor Abrahamson and Shannon Hartman — as BEE Award recipients. Their honor carries special meaning: it came directly from the heart of a patient they cared for during breast cancer treatment.

For anyone who has undergone radiation therapy, the daily routine can feel isolating and relentless. Yet according to the patient who nominated them, Taylor and Shannon had a remarkable ability to transform those difficult sessions into something more bearable. Among the many exceptional caregivers encountered throughout treatment, these two stood apart — not just for their clinical expertise, but for the genuine human connection they offered each day.

The nomination speaks to their rare combination of knowledge and compassion. They took time to answer questions, ensured their patient was comfortable, and even made sure the right music was playing — a small gesture that made a meaningful difference. "They put on your favorite tunes, which was so helpful in making the treatment go by in a flash," the patient wrote. Without even trying, they eased anxieties that no medication can fully address.

"While I wasn't fortunate in my diagnosis, I was fortunate to have them by my side. I am eternally thankful to them and for all they do for our community."

The BEE Award exists to honor individuals who embody the very best of patient-centered care. Congratulations, Taylor and Shannon.
