CMC Launches StepOne Service™, A Medical Detox Program

June 09, 2026

We are proud to share exciting news about a new service that reflects both our mission and our commitment to the health of our community.

Beginning Monday, July 6, Community Medical Center will offer StepOne Service™, a new voluntary inpatient medical detox program developed in partnership with Evergreen Healthcare Partners, LLC. This program provides a three-to-five-day, hospital-based acute withdrawal management service for adults who need medical support to safely withdraw from alcohol or opioids. Importantly, the program is available through self-referral — meaning individuals can access care without a physician's order.

Why This Program Matters

An estimated 79,000 Montanans struggle with substance use disorders. Alcohol is the most common substance involved, and for many people, the physical process of withdrawal is a serious medical barrier to recovery — one that can involve seizures, severe vomiting, tremors, hallucinations, and in some cases, death. Without medical management, many individuals relapse before completing detox, not from a lack of will, but because of real danger.

Our clinical team has long approached substance use disorder the way we approach any chronic illness — as a medical condition that deserves a medical response. StepOne Service™ fills a critical gap in Western Montana by serving people who are actively using and want to stop, offering around-the-clock care by our physicians and nurses, protocol-specific medications, and an individualized discharge plan to support the next step in recovery.

Access and Coverage

The program is covered by most insurance plans accepted by Community Medical Center, including Medicare and Medicaid, and payment plans are available. The program has also demonstrated strong outcomes — a 96% patient satisfaction rate, with 80% of patients completing the program and continuing on with addiction treatment.

Addiction doesn't discriminate. It touches families at every income level, every age group, and every walk of life here in Montana. What we know is that it is a medical condition that can be treated, and recovery is possible. This program is about making sure that when someone is finally ready to ask for help, we have something to offer them — right here, at Community Medical Center.

We are grateful to everyone on our clinical and administrative teams who made this launch possible.
